Happy Veterans Day!

In observance of Veterans Day, District Lodge 54’s HQ will be closed Monday, November 12. Tomorrow’s holiday commemorates the brave men and women who have served our country and provided the greatest sacrifice to keep our great country safe.

The U.S. adopted “All Veterans Day,” now “Veterans Day,” after World War II to honor military veterans of that and subsequent conflicts on November 11 each year. Prior, the U.S. solely honored Armistice Day to commemorate World War I veterans. Observed worldwide, tomorrow marks the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, also known as The Day the Guns Fell Silent. On November 11, 1918, Germany and Allied powers signed an armistice, a formal agreement to cease fighting, ending World War I.

As a historical milestone in our country’s history, we hope you all take time to reflect on tomorrow’s holiday and wish everyone a safe and happy Veterans Day.
