Galion, OH, March 13, 2020 – Twenty-three workers of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers, District Lodge 54, Local Lodge 1346 in Galion, OH, took to the picket lines earlier this week after rejecting the company’s contract offer and voting to strike their employer Gledhill Road Machinery Company.
The issues at hand are wages, benefits, and working conditions.
“Local 1346’s negotiating committee is seasoned and made the difficult decision not to recommend the company’s last, best, and final offer,” said IAM District 54 Business Representative Jim McClelland. “We’ve made an offer to company representatives to return to the bargaining table in an effort to reach a fair agreement for both parties.”
“Our members of Local 1346 have the full support of our district and its affiliated local lodges,” said IAM District 54 President & Directing Business Representative T. Dean Wright, Jr. “After meeting with our membership on the strike line, we urge the company to maintain quality wages, health benefits, and working conditions for our members and their families.”
Picket lines went up just after midnight on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) is among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, representing 600,000 active and retired members throughout a broad spectrum of industries.
