In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, IAM District Lodge 54 will be closed today, Monday, Jan. 20, 2020. On this day, we celebrate and remember King’s activism and service, and observe the 25th anniversary of MLK Day of Service.

Charles Pacheco, Sr. will begin his appointed position as Business Representative/Organizer for District Lodge 54 effective February 1, 2020. Brother Pacheco was initiated into IAM Local Lodge 439 in 1976 while working in Cleveland, Ohio. He has held the positions of Local Lodge Vice President for over 15 years and served on the shop committee at Eberhard Manufacturing for over 25 years, including 18 years as Chief Steward. He has attended four (4) IAM Conventions, assisted in many successful District organizing campaigns and translating for our union. Charley will continue to serve as a Vice President to the Ohio State Council of Machinists, and Local Lodge Delegate to the OH AFL-CIO and North Shore Federation of Labor. In addition, he served District Lodge 54 as an Auditor and Human Rights Committeemen.
“Brother Pacheco brings a great deal of experience and will serve our membership in the Greater Cleveland area,” said President and Directing Business Representative T. Dean Wright, Jr. as he announced the appointment during tonight’s District Lodge 54 Delegate Meeting held in Ashland, OH.

It is with regret and sadness that I inform you of the passing of Retired District Lodge 54 Business Representative Jack Baker. Jack passed away after a long illness on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the age of 62. Brother Baker served the IAM for 10 years before he retired in February 2019. He is survived by his wife Debbie, seven children, and several grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Wappner Crematory located at 1327 Ashland Road, Mansfield, OH.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Grace Episcopal Church’s “Food Pantry” 41 Bowman Street, Mansfield, OH 44903.
